Bush Sr. and Jr. Responsible for Poverty in USA – WRONG

October 5th, 2006 . by Chris

The article linked by the “read more” link below starts off with this:

“In a country like Argentina there is a population of 30 million people, compared to the United States; population of 300 million, this is no great surprise, right. Wrong, today, there exists 35.9 million people in the United Sates living below the poverty line, which by size comparison is an entire nation.”

This article is preposterous. I can wholeheartedly agree that both Bush Sr and Jr. have had roles in the downturn of this nation, but it’s most certainly not them to blame alone. People that write these articles are extremely biased and by using specific statistics from NGOs they can “justify” their reasonings to sway people’s thinking.

I’ll tell you what causes poverty.

1. Lack of personal responsibility for ones self and actions.

2. Policies and legislation that create welfare states, keeping people poor rather than helping them get to a point to pull themselves out of the gutter. I mean, if people know the government will send them a check every month, what’s the incentive to better yourself?

3. So-called “free” trade agreements, such as NAFTA, which has caused at least 1 million lost jobs in the US alone and certainly plenty more in Mexico. CAFTA and the proposed FTAA are sure to do even more damage. Check out http://www.stoptheftaa.org

The groundwork for NAFTA in America was laid by Bush, Sr., passed by Clinton. CAFTA groundwork was laid by Clinton and passed by Bush, Jr. So, both Democrats and Republicans in general are to blame.

4. Massive foreign aid to countries in Africa and other Third-World nations cause poverty. Why? The tyrants and dictators take the money destined for hungry people, use it to enrich themselves and build up their military. Then they slaughter their own innocent people.

The list could go on an on, but I’m stopping at this point. Americans and the rest of the world need to understand that the sharp rise in poverty is a calculated and planned process. Corporations need cheap labor and governments need to control their citizenry. By putting them into the poverty level, people will inevitably do whatever they are told and take what hand-outs that will be given to them and be so “thankful” for the government, never questioning it at all.
