The US Government wants to return to the older, more difficult naturalization process test. They want to make sure that when an immigrant takes the test, he/she understand the prinicples of our Republic and the foundation from which it started. Right now, it’s just the memorization of facts. I happen to think this is a good idea, though many Americans would fail it today…

A Halliburton subsidiary agreed to pay the government $8 million to resolve accusations of overbilling related to the firm’s work for the Army in the Balkans. The accusations against KBR included double-billing, inflating prices and providing products that didn’t fit the Army’s needs during the construction of Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo.

A record 7 million people — or one in every 32 American adults — were behind bars, on probation or on parole by the end of last year, according to the Justice Department. Of those, 2.2 million were in prison or jail, an increase of 2.7 percent over the previous year, according to a report released Wednesday.
