Spitzer gives Pataki constant state police protection, unheard of in the state’s history, and its an expense that could cost taxpayers $20,000 or more a week.

Why does a governor need taxpayer-paid security?  Frankly, why does any politician need security?  They are people just like us, not elites that should be pampered poodles.

Chavez to shut down opposition TV

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has said he will not renew the license for the country’s second largest TV channel when it expires in March 2007.In an address to troops, Mr Chavez said he would not tolerate media outlets working toward a coup against him.Radio Caracas Television, which is aligned with the opposition, supported a strike against.

Chazez is such a great guy, huh? This sounds like what our current president and his administration has tried to do. If you don’t like what the media is saying about you, just shut them down.
