Immigration bill fails in Senate – No Time to Celebrate
June 8th, 2007 . by RobertWhile the disastrous immigration bill S.1348 has failed for the time being, it is little cause for celebration. As is typically the case when the big power elite is defeated on an issue, you can bet that they have their boys working overtime this weekend to formulate a strategy to get a substitute bill pushed through in the future. A little repackaging, a few changes, maybe a few conciliatory amendments that appear to improve the bill and shizam!!! we have a “comprehensive” immigration bill that even conservatives can swallow. You can bet that the repackaging has already begun. In fact, we need to be vigilant that there is not a shadow bill waiting in the wings under an innocuous name that can be slipped through maybe even on unanimous consent as was Senator Richard Burr’s (R-NC) BARDA / All Hazards bill.
