What Next A Nobel For Fred?

October 14th, 2007 . by Robert

The recent award of the Nobel Peace Prize to Al Gore and the U.N.’s IPCC is almost as laughable as awarding one to Fred Thompson for the character he has portrayed on TV. Both Al and the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) base much of their findings on rhetoric with political motivation rather than hard, cold science. At least the British Courts have the courage to say so. The IPCC reports are under fire from many of the scientists who contributed research articles after having them buried or politicized beyond recognition. Like the IPCC, Gore tends to focus all the causes of climate change on human activity. While there certainly is detrimental effect caused by pollution, deforestation, and other activities, one can hardly dismiss the fact that the climate has always been in a state of flux. There has never been a period that can be considered perfectly stable for any significant geological period. The glaciers carved the Great Lakes, produced the Rocky Mountains, and contributed to much of the diverse landscape of the world. The fact that New York City is not under an ice sheet is testimony to the fact that climate change is not only ongoing but is cyclical throughout the history of the earth. Gore has made a cause and a serious income source for himself by terrorizing human kind. While we must exercise good stewardship of our environment, we must also realize that the solutions proposed by Gore and the IPCC are not about protecting the environment but are about protecting and extending the power of government. Bureaucracies are about one thing – protecting the Bureaucracy. Those who choose to jump on that bandwagon are either willing accomplices or dupes. It matters not which they are since both are equally dangerous.
