Kauai residents fix their own road, save state $4 million
April 9th, 2009 . by adminTheir livelihood was being threatened, and they were tired of waiting for government help, so business owners and residents on Hawaii’s Kauai island pulled together and completed a repair job to a state park road in 8 days — for free. The state of Hawaii had estimated the repair would cost $4 million and would take 2 years. Bureaucracy, anyone?
