Most are familiar with those commercials on television promoting prescription drugs that supposedly offer relief from a variety of ailments, if one would only pressure one’s doctor to obtain them. They have become a source of great entertainment and amusement to some, the kicker coming at the end of each commercial when the FDA-approved medication’s obligatory litany of warnings and dangerous side effects is recited: “Tell your doctor if….” and “Side effects may include…..” Some of the warnings are mild like diarrhea and constipation, some list serious effects like cancer or tuberculosis, and others admit that sometimes even death can result.

NC Senator Kay Hagan is a typical waffling bureaucrat weighing whether supporting this disastrous government take over of health care will cost her the seat.

It is quickly coming down to the debate over inane provisions and whether the Democrats or the Republicans have the better way. The bottom line is that neither party has the better plan. Both the Democrat and the Republican scams are bad news for us as individuals. Both plans will result in a broader provision of decreasing quality health care.

Whether you support the Constitutional position or not, you have to admit that government must have some boundaries or else it will simply morph into a totalitarian oppressor with great assumed and destructive powers. We have seen where unchecked monetary policy, foreign policy, and domestic security policies are slowly eroding our individual liberties in the name of government control and central planning.

We must put pressure on Senator Hagan to vote against this convoluted ill-conceived plan to allow bureaucrats to determine your health options while demanding tribute from each for the privilege of having it forced down our throats.

It appears that Mr. Obama and a hearty group of clapping seal elitist must think that the masses can’t reason beyond some thread-bare emotional rhetoric to realize that what he propagandized last night is nothing more than empty rhetoric. He is trying to defend a costly boondoggle by saying that the saving alone in making a failing system more efficient by creating 40 layers of government bureaucracy will pay for a trillion dollar program.

The existing government run health care programs are headed toward bankruptcy. Mr. Obama says we can make them more efficient, save money, and use the money to pay for the programs in this legislation. That’s somewhat like three plus four equals two. If the system is headed toward bankruptcy and you make it more efficient and less costly and then spend the savings are you not still spending the amount that was pushing you into bankruptcy? Oh wait… I forgot, there will be millions of new insured. We can simply apply that money to the program and not worry about giving them anything in return since they will be the demographic needing insurance the least but will be mandated to buy insurance anyway – like it or not.

Charles Rangel ranks right up there with Tom Delay, Newt Gingrich, Barbara Boxer, and a host of other corrupt congressmen and senators who seem to keep getting elected. Now Mr. Rangel has stooped to a new low in his attempts to frame the health care debate in racial terms and also putting a religious slant on it. Rangel says it’s an attempt to deny health care to blacks and asks “Why can’t we get what God has given us?” Mr. Rangel may be able to convince some of his racially biased supporters but the reality is that most people know big bureaucracies can’t efficiently or effectively administer programs that must consider individual needs. In a collectivized health care system or any system dealing with masses of people, the needs and desires of the individual are sacrificed for the good of the bureaucracy.

Proponents of the proposed U.S. health care legislation can deny the existence of mandated death committees all they want but it doesn’t change the eventualities of government run health care. No, Britain doesn’t have death committees mandated by their law either but it appears to be a natural result of government run rationed care. When government takes over health care the goal has got to be restrictions in the application of medical technology, especially when the recipient just doesn’t measure up to the standards… too old, close to death, or simply inconvenient and not cost effective. When you implement massive government control there are always unintended consequences. In the case of the British NHS it the drive toward allowing the old and terminal to die quickly to reduce costs.

When you consider the British unwritten policy of letting the old and terminal die quickly, alongside the fact that the British NHS has the highest absenteeism of any industry you may begin to see a pattern emerge. A pattern that does not bode well for the implementation of government run and ultimately rationed health care when society is used to having a system that values life above all else.

It may be expensive but I’d rather pay at the time of use than to be bled dry paying all the time for a system that is broken before it is even started.
